Setting the Perfect Holiday Table this Season
Share
Although the gathering of friends and family is great, we all know that everyone’s focus is on the food, drinks, + presentation this holiday season! Crafting a beautiful holiday table ( + offering NA beverage options from Orangily, of course! ) sets the tone and will be sure to wow your guests.
Step 1: Choose a Theme or Color Palette
Start with a cohesive + aesthetic theme. I personally am sticking to neutral tones, gold metallics, and black accents this year. Other themes include:
- Traditional - red, green, and gold with classic elements like holly + plaid.
- Winter Wonderland - all-white with frosted details + sparkling silver. (Another fav of mine!)
- Rustic - Earthy tones, natural wood, + greenery.
Step 2: Add Layers Your Table Linens
- Tablecloths: Use a neutral base layer that complements your theme.
- Runners: Add texture by layering a table runner down the center. Velvet, sequins, or woven textures are perfect options.
- Placemats: Placemats or chargers add an extra layer of dimension. I typically keep these a neutral color so that it’s not too “busy” added in with all of the other fun layers
Step 3: Create a Fun Centerpiece
Your centerpiece is the exciting point of the table! Depending on your theme, here are a few ideas:
- Candles: Mix candles and votives in varying heights along the runner. Using metallic holders or rustic wood bases (depending on your theme) would be a fun touch!
- Greenery: Using garlands, eucalyptus, or pine branches would add festive dimension
- Ornaments: Fill a decorative bowl or tray with ornaments or pinecones
- Floral Arrangements: Add seasonal flowers along the table runner for an elegant look! Poinsettias would be perfection for this.
Step 4: Set the Place Settings
For each guest, include:
- Plates: Layer a dinner plate with a salad or appetizer plate on top. A charger underneath adds elegance, and who doesn’t love another layer?
- Napkins: Fold napkins neatly or use a napkin ring. I personally tie them with ribbon and tuck in a little faux mistletoe.
- Cutlery: I’m loving the look of gold, metallic cutlery this year! Place forks on the left, knives and spoons on the right.
- Glasses: Drinking beverages out of cute glasses is what makes the whole experience fun!
- Pro tip: be the BEST host by offering NA beverages for your guests! Being an inclusive host is the trend of the season!
Step 5: Add Personalized Touches
- Place Cards: Write guests’ names on cards to add a personal touch. You can get creative with this and use textured materials, gift tags, or simply cardstock!
- Favors: Small gifts, like wrapped chocolates or Jøyus Mini Sparkling Wine (found at Orangily!) can double as decor and a favor for your guests!
Creating a beautiful holiday table AND offering NA beverage options from Orangily will create an experience that your guests will never forget! Wishing you a wonderful holiday season, friends.
