Loren's Alcohol-Free loves the public library

Hanging out at the public library on a Saturday night? Yes, please! Especially when the evening involves handing out cans of Busty Lush and enjoying food samples from many of our favorite Carmel restaurants.
On Saturday, April 15, we were a beverage donor at Library After Dark, a fundraising event benefitting the Carmel Clay Public Library Foundation. Maybe donating our time and resources to support the public library seems like a strange fit for a bottle shop, but let's take a look at how our core values are in alignment.
- Inclusion | Public librarians have been working tirelessly in recent years to defend materials that some have deemed as harmful or inappropriate for young people. The authors of these materials disproportionately represent marginalized groups. Inclusion is the heartbeat of public library work.
- Wellness | Books can play a huge role in our health and wellness journeys. Sometimes even one chapter can inspire us to make dramatic lifestyle changes. Borrow print materials, eBooks, and audiobooks for free with your public library card. CCPL also organizes a Wellness Wednesday program series.
- Privacy | Librarians are committed to protecting each library user's right to privacy and confidentiality. It's a core tenet of librarianship and in their Code of Ethics. We are committed to protecting each customer's privacy -- both the personal stories they share with us and their digital information.
- Curiosity | Learning to craft mocktails, starting your own business, or researching your next vacation ... we can think of no better place to start a new project than the public library.
Library After Dark was a blast, and we can't wait to return next year! Visit carmelibrary.org for a list of upcoming programs and events.
